Douglas Kennedy's "To The Dancers" and Other Articles

On Cecil Sharp's death in 1924, Douglas Kennedy succeeded him as Director of the E.F.D.S. Douglas was passionate about country dance technique and wrote numerous articles on the subject, mostly under the heading "To the Dancers". If you can get past the esoteric and flowery language, there are lots of good messages here.

WARNING: These articles were published in the 1930s and 1940s. Many of Douglas Kennedy's views and statements, especially those regarding the role of women in dance, are not considered acceptable these days. Please understand that they are a product of their times, and focus on the many good points that he makes about dance technique.
