Lucky Seven

Source: Traditional; published in English Dance & Song, April 1958. Vol XXII. No. 4
Formation: Circle Mixer

A1 Circle Left (16 steps)
A2 Into the Middle & Back x2
B1 Grand Chain - count your Partner as Number One
B2 Swing Number Seven

Music:
The article suggests "The Happy Clown"; the Community Dances Manual suggests "The Spaceman". In reality any suitable 32 bar tune will do.

Notes:
This is a very popular dance, but beginners often go the wrong way or miscount - it takes careful teaching. They often finish the Swing on the wrong side and then head off the wrong way in the next Grand Chain.

For a variant that usually works more successfully please see Serendipitous Seven.
